Orphan Helpers
Orphan Helpers is a multi-denominational Christian ministry founded in Newport
News by Greg Garrett in 2000 after 13 years of praying and seeking God's will for his own
life. The ministry is dedicated to serving and ministering to the spiritual, emotional,
educational, and physical needs of orphaned, abused and incarcerated children.
It all started when Orphan Helpers began caring for 250 children in an El Salvador
orphanage. Today, Orphan Helpers is the preferred partner in government-run orphanages
and detention centers in both El Salvador and Honduras.
Orphan Helpers hires teachers and workers for the children in these orphanages
and juvenile detention centers. They also send mission teams and interns to Central
America to serve these children from within the local communities. The hope of Orphan
Helpers is to multiply its effect by empowering today's orphans to become tomorrow's
